Florida's Space Coast offers the perfect blend of enviable weather, miles of sandy beaches, and rich history

Merritt Island, 40 miles long, is located in Brevard County east of Orlando between Cocoa and Cocoa Beach along Highway 520 near the Atlantic Seacoast, Cape Canaveral and the Indian River. Merritt Island is part of the Melbourne-Titusville-Palm Bay, Florida metro area.

Seven miles wide at the north to a point at the south, most of the island's population of around 36,000+ occupies a suburban area of middle-class homes between state roads 528 and 520. The whole area surrounding Merritt Island boasts one-of-a-kind shops where you’ll find art, pottery, crafts, unique jewelry, home accents and clothing.

Adjoining communities including Melbourne and Cape Canaveral and with the proximity to Walt Disney World®, Sea World Of Florida®, Universal Studios Florida®, Epcot Center and other Central Florida attractions make this an ideal location for your new home.

Also known as Florida’s “Space Coast,” this area has miles of pristine white beaches. Swim in the ocean or spend a day searching for seashells and sunning on the sugar soft sand. Go surfing, water-skiing, parasailing, snorkeling, boating, sailing or wind sailing in the beautiful rivers of Banana River and Indian River. You can rent a boat for deep-sea fishing, or fish right off the pier. For non-beach activities there’s golf, tennis, horseback riding, hiking and biking.
On Sykes Creek Pkwy is Ulumay Wildlife Sanctuary - a wildlife & bird sanctuary on a 436-acre reservation featuring a natural lagoon - is an international attraction for birdwatchers. It is also historically documented as a town of the Ais Indians who disappeared in the early 18th century.

On July 1, 1962, Kennedy Space Center was designated the Launch Operations Center. Beginning more than four decades of excellence for America's premier spaceport, NASA's John F. Kennedy Space Center is America's premier gateway to the universe. As the world's only launch site for the Space Shuttle, Kennedy prepares the vehicles for each mission, operates each countdown and manages end-of-mission landing recovery activities. The Center also coordinates all expendable vehicle launches carrying a NASA payload, whether the launches take place at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida, Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, or elsewhere. Finally, as the last Earthly stop for International Space Station hardware, Kennedy prepares these elements for their missions in space
